Abstract

Tanaman  hias  dalam  pot  dapat  dipakai  di  hotel-hotel  dan  kantor,  umumnya mereka menggunaakan tanaman hias dalam pot indoor dengan alasan memberikan kesan  alami,  menambah  keindahan  ruangan  atau  sebagai  komponen  dalam  tata dekorasi ruangan dan alas an kesehatan. Tanaman indoor tidak saja memberikan suasana  alami  dalam  ruangan  melainkan  telah  menggambarkan  tingkat  prestise tanaman  indoor  dan  dianggap  sebagai  salah  satu  kunci  untuk  memikat  orang. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kegunaan tanaman hias bagi manusia  dan  untuk  mengetahui  prospek  pengusahan  tanaman  hias  dalam  pot (potplant).  Adapun  fungsi  tanaman  dan  kegunaan  tanaman  hias  ini  dalam penggunaannya   dibagi   menjadi   3   yaitu   untuk   individu,   perkantoran   dan perhotelan.  Prospek  penjualan  tanaman  hias  dalam  pot  (potplant)  di  Indonesia cukup  besar.  Nilai  produk  hortikultura  Indonesia tahun  1996  mencapai  Rp.  57,5 milyar  dengan  pertumbuhan  15-25%  per  tahun.  Pada  tahun  2005  diperkirakan permintaan  dalam  negeri  Rp.  186-425  milyar.  Kondisi  ini  didukung  dengan kenyataan bahwa minat masyarakat di Indonesia  yang semakin besar.
